JONES, Mich. — Shirley Ann Sipress, 76, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at 8:59 a.m.

She was born in South Bend on March 31, 1941, to the late Louis and Gertrude (Kasmiercyak) Tobler and later married Thomas E. “Tom” Sipress on Jan. 21, 1959 in South Bend.

He survives at home after 58 wonderful years together.

Shirley has worked at CTS of Elkhart for several years, as well as being a bank teller at several Elkhart, Union and Edwardsburg area banks.

She loved music and playing songs that she has composed herself.

She was also a private music teacher and had served as pianist for the Mason Township Baptist Church as well.

She will be best remembered for her colorful personality, her love for her husband, children and family, and for her devotion to her church. “Some day, oh, some day, at those Golden Gates, I’m going home with my Lord…”

Also surviving are her children Denice L. Kamm of Indianapolis, Derick L. (Sally) Sipress of Jones and Daniel L. Sipress of Bristol; her sister Nancy Stokes of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, with one on the way.

Pastor Tim Liechty along with his father, retired Pastor Ron Liechty.

The congregation of the Mason Township Baptist Church, 20109 Mason St., Cassopolis, MI are honored to host Shirley’s celebration of life services at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at Shavehead Cemetery. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be given to the Mason Township Baptist Church.
