ELKHART — Julia Lee Dinwiddie, 91, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at her home of natural causes Tuesday, July 4, 2017.
She was born in Columbus, Georgia, Jan. 4, 1926, to the late James and Lugenia (Grissom) Dunham Sr.
Surviving are her children, Lorrie (Wm. J. Anderson) Dinwiddie and Timothy “Tim” Dunham of Elkhart; grandchildren Brittany and Justin Mc Coy, Julia Dinwiddie and William Anderson III; six great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
Siblings James Dunham Jr. and Lucy Jenkins preceded her in death.
Services will be at the St. James AME Church, 122 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, Elkhart at noon Saturday, July 15.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is handling arrangements.
Julia worked in the maternity ward of the original Elkhart General Hospital and later at Miles Laboratories.
She was a deaconess at St. James AME Church for many years and was famous for her pound cakes and Christmas cookies.
Memorials may go to the church.
