Charles Mason "Chaz" Miller

September 13, 2017

SOUTH BEND — Charles Mason “Chaz” Miller, 22, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at his home.

He was born Dec. 1, 1994, in Elkhart, to Charles M. (Debra) Miller of South Bend and Stephanie Miller of Elkhart and is survived by his fiancée, Kayla Seal.

Also surviving are his sister, Paige O. Miller of Elkhart and stepsister Taiya D. Weiss of South Bend; grandparents Valerie and Dale Reecer of Elkhart; godfather Karmen Bermea; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved very much.

Also left to cherish his memory is his faithful companion “Dee-oh-gee” (dog), his red-nosed pit bull.

He was preceded in death by great-grandmother Edna Usery and grandparents Albert and Carlene Miller.

Chaz was employed at Bennington Pontoon Boats of Elkhart at the time of his passing, but he had long aspired to become a self-employed entrepreneur and had been taking business classes to that end.

He was a good-natured young man and you could always count on his witty sense of humor to lighten or diffuse any situation.

He was an avid hunter, but when he wasn’t 12 feet up a tree stand, he could be found watching his beloved Michigan Wolverines, Chicago Cubs or Green Bay Packers.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, Chaz will be interred in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart at a private graveside service there.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Chaz M. Miller Memorial Fund, c/o his mother Stephanie.
