April 22, 2005 - Aug. 19, 2012

ELKHART — Miss Kristyana Marie Jackson, 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. and Kimi M. (Lamb) Jackson of Elkhart, passed away with her family at her side at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Sunday evening, Aug. 19, 2012, from injuries sustained during an invasion at the family’s home last Friday night.

Born April 22, 2005, in Elkhart, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her parents; sisters Jonequa R. Jackson and Nyjah R. Brown-Watson; and brothers Curtis A. Brown-Watson and John R. Jackson Jr., all of Elkhart. She will also be dearly missed by her grandparents, Thomas and Barbara “Papa and Mimi” Lamb and grandmother Mable Davis, all of Elkhart; godparents Jamie and Amber Williams of Elkhart; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John L. “Papa Limbo” Williams.

A celebration of Kristyana’s life will begin with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Agape Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W. Wolf Ave., Elkhart. Services will continue Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral, also at the church. The Rev. Dr. Dannell Brown, Ph.D. of Agape and Pastor Ray Caudill of Willowdale Church of Christ in Elkhart will officiate, with burial to follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.

Kristyana will be best remembered for being the perfect child of any parent’s dream; with her thoughtfulness, kind heart and compassion for others far exceeding that of a normal 7-year-old. A second-grader at Elkhart’s Mary Daly Elementary School, she was full of energy and enthusiasm in everything from academics to athletics. She was an advanced reader for her age and enjoyed being a member of several area soccer, basketball and gymnastics leagues. She also loved to dance, sing and swim, and had just recently discovered the thrill of “tubing” on some of the area lakes with members of her family. Her best times, however, were spent with her parents and her baby brother, John Jr., whom she doted on. “Family time” was spent spending Christmases at Chicago’s Navy Pier, dining at Sunny Italy or Texas Roadhouse with mom and dad, spending time at the Kalahari and Grey Wolf Lodge indoor water parks in Sandusky, Ohio, and going to Cedar Point to ride the roller coasters there as many times as she could.

Please come and join the family in celebrating the memory of this wonderfully kind and caring little girl with the beautiful eyes.

In addition to the account set up at Elcose Federal Credit Union (“Account set up to assist family of Kristyana Jackson,” Elkhart Truth, Aug. 21), accounts have been set up at Key Bank for anyone to donate money toward the memorial and reward funds for Kristyana. Please contact your local Key Bank branch for more information about donating to the John R. Jackson Memorial Fund for Kristyana Jackson and reward fund.

JJ and Kimi I am so very sorry for your lost. JJ, we go back to our Roosevelt days. The days of youth and innocence and it breaks my heart that Kristyana, so filled with innocence, would be taken from this world in such an unnecessary and violent way. I pray God''s peace for you and your family during this most difficult time and days ahead. God is faithful and during those times that you believe you can not take anymore, just fall to your knees and ask Him for help. Words can''t adequately express the sorrow I feel for you. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.
