Carlor "Tiny" Carroll Life Story

Carlor Yvonne “Tiny” Carroll, 59, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully but suddenly at her home on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 9:36 pm following a probable cardiac event. Born in Chicago on May 10, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Anderson Kyle, Jr. and Alma Pullian.

Surviving Tiny is her beloved significant other Melvin Williams, who survives at home; her beautiful daughters Ieasha (Cordarrll) McFee and Sharmayne Jones, both of Elkhart; her precious grandchildren Cordà, Cortrell, Cornell and Cordarrll McFee, Jr. and Khyleigh Jones; loving brothers Roy (Ann) Jackson, Dennis Jackson and Vernon (Betty) Jackson, all of Elkhart, twins Ronnie (Barbara) and Donnie (Charlotte) Jackson of Detroit, Michigan, Anderson (Anna) Kyle III of Fishers and Dr. James E. Kyle, MD of Phnom Penh, Cambodia; cherished sisters Aretha (Robert) Green, Carlyn Kyle-Johnson, Metral (Phillip) Austin-Binion and Adell Kyle, all of Elkhart, and a loving host of nieces, nephews, extended family, in-laws, outlaws and good friends. Preceding Carlor in death along with her parents is her husband, Shawn Carroll: a beloved grandson, CorTra’ McFee and her dear sister, Patricia A. Kyle, who, sadly, passed only a month ago.

A family directed memorial gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 802 West Garfield Street, Elkhart. Pastor Danny Brown will officiate the service. In accordance with Tiny’s wishes, Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

Tiny was a well known hair stylist throughout the Elkhart area whose career spanned over 30 years. Highly prized for her ability to turn the hottest mess into pure gold, she had them lined up at nearly every salon she ever worked at.

Tiny’s daughters would attest to the fact that she had a very well developed sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. Her boo Melvin was more impressed with Tiny’s smooth moves out on the dance floor. All agreed, though, that Tiny’s inner strength and huge heart spilled out and onto others, filling those around her with joy much like an infectious laugh.

In fact, Tiny’s self-proclaimed “mission” in life was to always be kind and to be available and present to help others. She often chose others over herself and was always satisfied with herself if she could positively affect someone else’s life.  It is no lie to say that Tiny has a passion for hair and people and just about everything, as she lived her life to the fullest and loved every moment of her journey. She was always more than willing to share that positive energy with anyone who needed it.

Tiny loved her girls, her boo Melvin and her extended family. She especially loved to cook for that aforementioned group. She loved her God and enjoyed worshipping Him down at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church on Elkhart’s south side. She loved checking up on her friends and family over the phone and getting a slice of the latest gossip that was going on. She loved beautiful, vibrant and diverse rainbow colors; the more electrically bright, the better, as they gave off the type of vibe that Tiny was attracted to. Finally, as if it was a secret to anyone,  she loooooooved to shop. We mean it. Really. L-O-V-E-D it. Purses, shoes and fire engine red lipstick was always the foundation to all of Tiny’s fabulous looks, and she sure loved lookin’ fabulous!!!
