Steve Seifert, 63, of Gilbert, AZ and formerly of Elkhart, IN was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He passed away at Memorial Hospital of South Bend after a sudden illness while visiting family. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Wendy, their three children, Joshua (Becky) Seifert, Rebecca (Daniel) Todd, Naomi (Douglas) Lake, and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother Marie Seifert, sister Cheryl (Victor) Palmer and brother Tom Seifert. Steve was preceded in death by his father George and his granddaughter Kaylee Seifert. He had recently retired (2015) from Memorial Hospital where he worked as a Project Manager in Information Systems and where he was also (formerly) a Respiratory Therapist. Steven was born to George and Marie (Gossert) Seifert on August 19, 1953 in South Bend, IN.  He was raised in Elkhart, IN and graduated from Elkhart High School in 1972. When Steve was sixteen years old he met Wendy K. Mast at a church youth group meeting. They were a perfect match for each other and on April 18, 1974 they were married. Following their marriage Steve received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Literature in 1976 from Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN. After graduating he served as a Pastor in the Missionary Church for several years. During this time he also completed his degree and certification as a Respiratory Therapist. Steve loved the outdoors, woodworking, pet rescuing and pet fostering. He enjoyed target shooting and was a member of the NRA.
