ELKHART — Rosetta Smith, 61, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at Elkhart General Hospital at 4:06 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Forrest City, Ark., on Aug. 8, 1954, to the late Elijah and Thelma (Kemp) Smith.
Surviving are her siblings, Robert L. “Spanky” Smith and Thelma (Gerald) Jackson, both of Elkhart, and Mary E. Evans of Milwaukee, Wis.; a godson, Samuel C. (Chelsea) Elmore, and best friend, Veronica (Samuel) Suggs-Elmore, both of Indianapolis; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, including Trecia (Ramon) Tanner Sr. of Elkhart.
Services will be celebrated at noon Saturday, Feb. 27, at AGAPE Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W. Wolf Ave., Elkhart, with viewing starting at 10 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Dannell Brown will officiate, and burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
Rosetta received a degree from Indiana University in 1977 and had recently retired from MasterBrand Cabinets in Goshen because of her health.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
