Veronica "Vickie" A. LaPierre

Veronica Ann “Vickie” LaPierre, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2022, surrounded by friends, family, and her children. Vickie was born on June 26, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Neil and Rosina Lynn. She attended Saint James School in Detroit and graduated in 1958.  Vickie’s parents were direct descendants of Scotland and her love of bagpipes never diminished and was only rivaled by her love for Elvis Presley.  

Vickie and her family moved to Elkhart in 1971.  Over the years, she worked at Hallmark Gift’s in the Concord Mall, Impressions, Inc., and Concord East Side, before retiring in 2006.
Vickie lived a long and fulfilled life with many life-long friends both in Detroit and Elkhart. She was often the life of the party who could light up a room with her infectious laugh.  Vickie was also an avid bowler who made numerous friends at Rainbow Lanes.  Most importantly, Vickie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. 

Vickie will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.  She is survived by her three children; Craig (Nancy) LaPierre of Elkhart, Indiana; Tracey (Jenn) LaPierre of Sacramento, California; and Mike (Jamie) LaPierre of Walnut Creek, California; four grandchildren, Dylan LaPierre, Devon LaPierre, Brynn Lenahan and Max Lundberg; two sisters, Helen Thomas, and Mary Lynn, and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the Detroit area.

Cremation will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart and private family services will be held. The family would like to express our sincere thanks for the wonderful help and care given by neighbors Mike and Sheila Hartwick as well as the Center for Hospice Care, in particular, Laura Lethbridge.  If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Center of Hospice Care in Elkhart or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  “Keep Right On Till the End of the Road” – Harry Lauder (Scottish singer / songwriter)
