Timothy Whitesell Life Story

Timothy (Tim) Michael Whitesell, 57, of Elkhart passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born on June 18, 1964 in Hamilton County, Indiana to the late Shelby (Velte) Whitesell.

Tim has two sons: Logan M. Whitesell of Anderson, Indiana and Levi W. Whitesell of Kokomo. He was living with his sister, Cynthia Whitesell Burns, at the time of his death.

Tim was employed as a long-haul trucker, and worked many years for Decker Truck Lines until his health brought him off the road in January 2021. Tim enjoyed traveling across the country as a truck driver and would often stay out on the road for 3-4 months at a time while living in his truck. Last year Decker awarded him their “Million Mile Safety Award” for reaching a million miles on the road without accident. Tim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting when off the road. He was also a huge Colts fan and relaxed by watching movies on his down time in the truck.

Tim spent time in his younger years as a roofing and gutter contractor, and he served on the Westfield, Indiana fire department for many years. Tim was also good in the kitchen and his signature dishes were fried shrimp and a gumbo. Tim had a great sense of humor and enjoyed small pranks and making people laugh. Tim’s humorous nature will be missed the most by his family and friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Lung Association. Friends and relatives are encouraged to leave memories of Tim and condolences by clicking on the tribute wall of his obituary page.
