Timothy W. Heiser

January 3, 2014
Sept. 29, 1977 - Jan. 3, 2014

BRISTOL — Timothy W. Heiser, 36, of Bristol, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, following a life-long battle with epilepsy. He was in Florida taking care of his ill grandmother, Linda Bickel of Grand Island, Fla.

He was born Sept. 29, 1977, the youngest son of Patricia Bickel (formerly Heiser) and Roger Heiser in Elkhart, but moved to Bristol in 1995.

Surviving besides his mother, Patricia Bickel, and his father, Roger Heiser, are his older brother Mike Heiser of Elkhart; grandmother Linda Bickel; fiancée Jessica Schneider of Goshen; grandfather Dr. William Heiser of Michigan; uncle Randy Heiser of Michigan; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews from Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.

Preceding him in death were his grandfather, William “Bill” Bickel, and his grandmother, Evelyn Heiser.

At an early age, Tim had the passion to help people and to save and rescue animals. We never knew what he was going to bring home. He responded to their cries for help then asked later if he could bring them home. Before we found out he had epilepsy, he became a certified welder, certified small engine mechanic, certified master small engine mechanic and owned his own business, Savage Wolf Salvage.

He had a natural ability to create something unique and beautiful out of junk. Although he enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with mowers and rebuilding fishing poles, his true passions were Elkhart County Charity Furs, a group dedicated to fundraising where proceeds go to animal organizations such as Pet Refuge, Humane Society, Animal Preserves and Wolf Park in Battleground. The Elkhart County Charity Furs’ last fundraiser for 2013 was to be a fundraiser for wounded servicemen, women and their dogs, but since Tim went to Florida to care for his grandmother, the fundraiser was not held.

The family requests memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be given to the following local unit. Tiffani Freeman, branch manager at INOVA, has set up an escrow account for donations. She can be reached at 574-294-6553. Cash or checks can be dropped off to Tiffani at the bank at 358 S. Elkhart Ave., Elkhart, IN 46516. If you are writing a check please make it out to Engineer Service Company or CLB25, CLR45 Marine Force Reserve 4th MLG.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Online condolences may be sent at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.
