Teddy "Teddy Bear" Williams Life Story

Teddy J. Williams, 57 of Elkhart, formally of Ecorse, MI passed away at his home on Thursday August 26, 2021. He was born to Billy Joe Williams of Taylor, MI and Jacqueline B. (Wilcox) Williams of Southgate, MI. While he was never married, he spent the last 14 years with his companion Jeaneen Rice of Elkhart and her 2 sons, Justin and Chris.

In addition to Jeaneen, others left to cherish Teddy’s memory include his mother Jacqueline Williams, brothers Terry and Tony Williams, sisters, Susan (James) Bawol, Joyce (Steven) Smothers, Mary (Oley) Tanner and Sherry (Ghaleb) Salem.

Also, his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Rick, Rachelle (Mace), Brian (Lisa), Julie (Bob) Amy, Adam, Renee (Aaron) and Lisa.

And great nieces and nephews, Aliyah, Seven, Dylan, D.J., Sean, Nevaeh, Maceo, Savannah, Isaiah, Christopher, Zion and Zyaire.

He was preceded in death by father, Billy Joe Williams, brother-in-laws, Steve Smothers, Oley Tanner; his sister, Sherry Salem, niece Amy Salah; great nephew, Zyaire Reed.

Teddy absolutely loved them all.

Teddy was affectionally called “Teddy-Bear” or Uncle Teddy due to his huge heart and always giving and caring for others. A true teddy bear, Teddy never met a stranger and was very outgoing. He truly loved helping those in need, be that helping work on cars of his family or friends, home improvement projects for those in need, or helping at the Middlebury Food Pantry. Teddy volunteered at the Middlebury Food Pantry every Saturday for nearly 14 years, until his health limited him. When Teddy wasn’t helping others, he enjoyed listening to and attending Country Music events, especially those at the Elkhart County 4H Fair and the B-100 Birthday Party. He “loved” to BBQ and most importantly to EAT his own cooking.

Family and friends will gather for a private celebration of his life with internment at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bay City, MI with other family members.

Memorial Contributions in Teddy’s Memory may be directed to the family.
