Life Story
Susan Walker, 62. Elkhart passed away in the presence of her loving family on July 15th, 2021 at her home. She was born to the late Glen Thomas and Violet Harriett Shanholt Atkinson. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great granddaughter; a brother Glen Atkinson, two sisters, Sandy Atkinson and Linda Phillips
Susan’s Motto was the three “C”'s, cooking, crafting and casinoing! She loved making baked beans and country fried steak and trying new recipes. Her crafting included making lamps, hot pads made with wooden clothes line pins, candy dishes made out of peppermints and making doll furniture. She absolutely loved going to and dreaming of living in Las Vegas.
Susan was a volunteer at the Elkhart Jazz Festival, and was the first to volunteer for any project. She was a loving friend and caretaker to Christine Converse for over 30 years.
Left to cherish her memories is her husband, Tom Walker of Elkhart, her two sons, Michael Regenos of Elkhart and Kevin Regenos husband Jay of Niles, MI. a daughter Amanda Burke and her husband Jim of Mishawaka, brothers; David Atkinson and his wife Carol of El Segundo, CA., Daniel Atkinson and his wife Dee of Franklin, TN, Thomas Atkinson and his wife, Fawne of Elkhart, sisters; Sister Sally Dye and husband Mart L. of Niles, MI., sister in law, Judy Atkinson of Edwardsburg, Michigan, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews and her first husband Elmer Regenos of Elkhart.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, July 25th at 1:00 PM at the home of Thomas and Fawne Atkinson in Elkhart.
