Stanley "Stan" David Rink

Stanley “Stan” David Rink, 87, of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at The Waters of Wakarusa.

Stan was born in Elkhart on September 7, 1936 to Otis Merle Rink and Eva Laura (Yoder) Rink. Stan married the love of his life, Sharron (McFall) Rink on June 9, 1962.

Stan is preceded in death by his brother, Ray Rink; sister, Shirley Sargent and brothers-in-law, Roger and Robert.

Stan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharron Rink of Elkhart; nieces and nephews, Amy Sargent, Terry (Terri) Sargent, Kenneth McFall, Tim Wade, Michelle Shoudel, Wendy Shoudel and Jeanette Zackry; sister-in-law, Carol Tucker and brother-in law, Richard “Dick” McFall and many extended family and friends he’s met along the way.

Stan graduated from Elkhart High School in 1954. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He was stationed on the USS Alcor. Stan served on the board at Inova Credit Union and was president of the Miles Athletic Association. Stan retired at Miles Bayer Laboratory in 1997.

Stan and his wife, Sharron spent their winters in Texas and looked forward to seeing their friends every year. He was an avid listener of jazz music. In his spare time, Stan enjoyed bowling and playing cards with his friends. His favorite sports teams include the Purdue Boilermakers, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.

Stan was outgoing and loved being around people. He was a caring man and was inseparable from his wife, Sharron until the end.  

A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

Full Military Honors will be performed at 4:00pm following the gathering at the funeral home.
