Sanjuana Gallardo Guzman

Sanjuana Gallardo Guzman, 53, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Elkhart General Hospital at 5:18 pm following a brief but serious illness. Her family was with her throughout her journey.

She was born February 23, 1970 in Jalisco, Mexico to the late Pedro Gallardo Avila and to Jovita Torres Gutierrez who survives in Jalisco. In May of 1993, she married Mauricio Guzman Rodriguez in Mexico; he survives at their Elkhart home.

She is also survived by her children Deana Alexandra Guzman, Daniel Ivan Guzman and Mauricio Guzman, Jr., all currently living at home; brothers Jose, Eliceo, Raul, Efren and Daniel Gallardo of Jalisco, Mexico; sisters Ma Lorena, Grisela, and Adriana Gallardo of Jalisco; her granddaughter Madelyn Rodarte Guzman, and a host of extended family, friends and work colleagues who loved and will miss Sanjuana.      

Services for Sanjuana will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 Main Street in Elkhart. Visitation will be held in St. Vincent Hall at the church from 11am – 1pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be recited at 1:00 pm by the Reverend Zane Langenbrunner and Sanjuana will be laid to rest following the mass at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.

Sanjuana worked 27 years at Century Foam in Elkhart, where she was a glue line supervisor. She was very well known and appreciated amongst her co-workers, as she had the reputation of being a very hard worker.

She was also quite a talented cook, and the smells from the kitchen would always signal another wonderfully home-cooked meal. Sanjuana prided herself in her culinary talent, and her homemade mole, tamales, and red rice were always popular. Caring and generous, Sanjuana would also use her cooking talents down at the church, she would help with food drives, dinners and other functions.

Sanjuana also loved to be outdoors, and she would quite often help her husband Mauricio tend the yard. Besides that, she loved to take long walks where she would be able to find peace in many of life’s trials.

 Sanjuana Gallardo Guzmán, de 53 años, falleció el Jueves 24 de Agosto de 2023 en el Hospital General de Elkhart a las 5:18 pm luego de una breve pero grave enfermedad. Su familia estuvo con ella durante todo el procesó.

 Nació el 23 de Febrero de 1970 en Jalisco, México, hija del fallecido Pedro Gallardo Ávila y de Jovita Torres Gutiérrez, quien sobrevive en Jalisco. En mayo de 1993 se casó con Mauricio Guzmán Rodríguez en México; sobrevive en su casa de Elkhart.

También le sobreviven sus hijos Deana Alexandra Guzmán, Daniel Iván Guzmán y Mauricio Guzmán, Jr., quienes actualmente viven en su casa; los hermanos José, Eliceo, Raúl, Efrén y Daniel Gallardo de Jalisco, México; las hermanas Ma Lorena, Grisela y Adriana Gallardo de Jalisco; su nieta Madelyn Rodarte Guzmán y una gran cantidad de familiares, amigos y colegas de trabajo que adoraron y extrañarán a Sanjuana.      

 Los servicios de Sanjuana se llevarán a cabo el Jueves 31 de Agosto del 2023 en la Iglesia Católica St. Vincent de Paul, 1108 Main Street en Elkhart. El velorio se llevará a cabo en St. Vincent Hall en la iglesia de 11 am a 1 pm. La Misa de Entierro Critiano será recitada a la 1:00 pm por el Reverendo Zane Langenbrunner y Sanjuana será sepultada después de la misa en el Cementerio de Prairie Street en Elkhart.

 Sanjuana trabajó 27 años en Century Foam en Elkhart, donde fue supervisora de línea de pegamento. Era muy conocida y apreciada entre sus compañeros de trabajo, ya que tenía fama de ser muy trabajadora.

También era una cocinera muy talentosa y los olores de la cocina siempre indicaban otra maravillosa comida casera. Sanjuana se enorgullecía de su talento culinario y su mole, tamales y arroz rojo caseros siempre fueron populares. Cariñosa y generosa, Sanjuana también usaría sus talentos culinarios en la iglesia, ayudaría con donaciones de alimentos, para cenas y otras funciones.

A Sanjuana también le encantaba estar al aire libre y con frecuencia ayudaba a su esposo Mauricio a cuidar el jardín. Además de eso, le encantaba dar largas caminatas donde podría encontrar paz en muchas de las pruebas de la vida.
