Sally J. Bowen

Sally J. Bowen, 81, of Bristol, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, at her residence. She was born on May 25, 1940, in Elkhart to the late Donald Ellsworth and Bonnie (Doan) Chamness.

Sally is survived by her children, Jackie Stutzman, Craig (Emily) Bowen, and Tina (Kent) Trahan; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie Hudson. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Ellsworth; and daughter in law, Kimberly Stewart.  

In accordance with Sally’s wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sally was a fun and outgoing woman who enjoyed life to the fullest with her family by her side. She worked for Wal-Mart for 22 years and was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Osceola. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and was on several local bowling teams in Elkhart County. Sally was always on her game when she would play euchre with her family and friends, especially at the DAV. She was an avid shopper who knew how to find the best deals on anything and always kept the mentality that “one is good, but two is better.” Sally always looked forward to the Holidays when she could spend time with family and spoil her grandchildren. Her favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas and she had decorations for every additional holiday, some of which she made herself. Sally will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
