ELKHART: Ronald Lee “Ron” Bailey, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Ron was born on June 4, 1936 in Goshen to the late Charles A. and Mary P. (Yoder) Bailey. Ron graduated from Concord High School and attended Tri-State University in Angola. Ron served as a firefighter with the City of Elkhart for 25 years. Before, during and after he retired from the fire department, Ron was the owner/operator of Ronald L. Bailey Electrical Contractor for 50 years. Ron was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling all over our great country. Ron also helped with disaster response and hurricane relief work.
Ron married Judith A. McKibbin in 1998; she survives, as well as his children, Cindy (Danny) Watson, Mike (Jeri) Bailey and Scott (Beth) Bailey; step-children, Wendy (Dr. Steven) Hanberg, David (Penny) Stamatovich, Nick Stamatovich; 6 step-grandchildren. Missing him will be 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a sister Maryann (John) Zerbe.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at River Oaks Church, 58020 CR 115, Goshen, IN. At 4:30 pm, the Elkhart City Fire Department will render the final bell, a final salute to a brother fireman. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations in Ron’s name to: Little Eden Camp, 3721 Portage Point Dr., Onekama, MI 49675.
