Mr. Robin D. VanTilburg, 72, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at Woodland Manor Nursing Facility in Elkhart following an extended illness on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 9:45 am. He was born in Elkhart County on December 10, 1948 to the late Richard and Nancy (Swartz) VanTilburg and married Beverly M. Cook in 1986. She survives at home.
He is also survived by his son Zebediah VanTilburg of Elkhart, a daughter Margaret Griswold of Reno, NV, and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins, including Aunt Carol Hampel of Goshen, as well as his furry sidekick Jonesy the Cat.
In accordance with Robin’s wishes, no immediate services are taking place and cremation has been chosen for disposition. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family.
Robin received a BA degree from University of Miami and later worked as VP of Operations at Precision Coating, Inc. in Novi. MI. He always had a knack at working with his hands and enjoyed the challenge of fixing things when they were broken. He was an avid outdoorsman and liked working in his yard and in his garden; and looked forward every spring to getting out and hunting for mushrooms.
Robin was also a very spiritual as well as giving soul. He enjoyed having the ability and chance to help others and was always thankful for God’s daily blessings. If life was a path, Robin always chose the high road.
Memorial donations made in Robin’s memory may be given to LoveWay of Elkhart County, New Frontiers, or the charity of one’s choice.
