Robert C. Mortimer

ELKHART – Robert Clarence “Bob” Mortimer, 81, of Elkhart, passed away June 30, 2018.

He was born April 15, 1937 in Elkhart, IN to Clarence and Thelma (Fetters) Mortimer. He married Marilyn Kirkpatrick in Dowagiac, Michigan on June 15, 1985. He worked at Adams and Westlake in Elkhart and retired from Elixir Industries of Mishawaka, Indiana.

Bob was a man who loved to laugh and tell stories. He enjoyed his church community and going to bible studies. Bob loved being a father and grandfather to all. He loved to fish. You could often find him “practicing” in the front yard! He and Marilyn enjoyed camping and hunting mushrooms, as well as being active in their church. He was a cheerful man and projected his love of life to all who interacted with him. Many will miss him.

He is survived by his wife; brother, Donald Mortimer; brother-in-law, T. Donald Kirkpatrick; sister-in-law, Brenda Mortimer; daughter, Jo-Ann (David) Paulson; step-children, Robin Sams, Becki Dunbar, Denise Swaim, Stanley Swaim, Kevin Swaim and Ronald (Julie) Sams; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Maxwell Schleining; step-grandchildren, Jamie Whited, David Richey, Krystal Northrop, Zane Sams, Danyele Karlskin, Joseph Dunbar, Katherine Swihart, Jeremiah Sams, Matthew Sams, Amy, Rachel, and Ricky; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Thelma (Fetters) Mortimer; and his brother, David P. Mortimer.

Memorial services for Bob will be held at Coulter’s Chapel Church of God3176 E. Detroit Road (M-60), Niles, MI on Saturday, July 7th, 2018 at 11am, with a visitation service starting at 10am.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Bob’s memory may be given to Coulter’s Chapel Church of God of Niles, MI or to the Center for Hospice Care of Elkhart.
