Ricky Rogers Life Story

Mr. Ricky Warren Rogers, 73, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 7:07pm. He was born on August 7, 1948 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Freeman and Marion Rogers.

Ricky is survived by his son Brandon W. Rogers of Elkhart; his daughter Melissa Kay Rogers of Muskegon; brothers Ron, Tim and Freeman (Sabrina) Rogers, all of Muskegon; sisters Judy (Wayne) Lowden of Muskegon and Carron Rogers of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Cody (Emily) Rogers and Austin and Alexis Porter, and a loving group of extended family, friends, work colleagues and business associates.

In accordance with Rick’s wishes, no immediate services have been scheduled and cremation is to take place with the assistance of Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart. Any future events will be announced here.

Rick did many things and wore many hats throughout his life. His eclectic collection of occupations and business ventures reflected his slightly eccentric but seriously motivated projects. Over the years, he has owned and operated an extrusion company, a dock construction company, a logistics company, owned a resort and ran an electrical contracting business just to name a few, and electrical engineering seemed to be a talent of his.

Two other talents that Rick took advantage of was his ability to work with metal and wood. Rick was quite talented, and he had a little home workshop that he could spend hours in. He made all kinds of things, but kept very few because he enjoyed giving his work to people who appreciated it.

When he wasn’t solving the world’s problems, Rick preferred a more mundane lifestyle that included fishing, golf, watching NASCAR, tinkering in his workshop and doing just about anything that involved being on the water. He loved taking his friends and family out on the pontoon boat, and often found his “Zen” when he was relaxing on the riverbank.

All that being said, Rick will be best remembered for teaching a lot of people how to overcome their limitations and to do a lot of different wonderful things!
