ELKHART — Richard D. “Rick” Lehner, 52, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at the Courtyard Healthcare Campus in Goshen on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018.
He was born March 3, 1966, in Elkhart, to the late Adolf (Rebecca) Lehner and Maria (Ronald) McMillan, who survive him.
Also surviving are daughters Janet (Ken) Adams, Nicole (Kris) McIntyre and Sarah (Nick Golden) Lehner; siblings Heidi (Mitchell) DeArmond, Erna (Charlie) Acuna and Adolf (Susi) Lehner; nine grandchildren, and a loving group of extended family as well as friends.
Rick’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
Pastor Spencer Mielke of Elkhart’s Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate, and burial will follow in Constantine Township Cemetery, Constantine, Michigan.
Cremation has taken place.
Rick was an automotive painter in his earlier years, but most will remember him for his outgoing personality and how easily he made friends.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and just being outdoors in general, playing cards and board games, watching his beloved Chicago Bears and Cubbies, collecting Harley-Davidson T-shirts, and was an aficionado of the TV series “M*A*S*H.”
However, his greatest love was for his daughters and his family, with whom he remained close until his passing.
Memorial donations may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County or to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
