Pearlie “Pearl” Mae Stevens, 79, of Elkhart passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Greenleaf Health Campus.
Pearlie was born on January 9, 1941 in Collierville, TN to the late Lonnie Stevens and Samella (Harris) Stout. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Mark A. Stevens on April 15, 2008 and 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Pearl is survived by her children, Sandra J. O’Bannon of Bristol, Donna T. Smith of Huntsville, AL, Elaine R. Kiefer of Elkhart and Patrick D. Stevens of Goshen; 2 brothers, Willie Stephens of Columbia City, SC, and Andrew (Ella) Stout of Elkhart; 3 sisters, Dorothy Sheppard of Mishawaka, Verleatha Vaughn of Memphis, TN and Olivia Steward of Mishawaka; 15 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Clareather Crenshaw and close friend, Valerie Whyte.
Pearl was a health care aide in Elkhart for many years. She belonged to Bethany Chapel SDA Church. Pearl loved to cook, sew and go to garage sales. She enjoyed making handmade greeting cards for everyone she knew. Pearl was a very caring and social person, whom never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Pearl will be on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN. A Private Funeral Service (Family will invite those whom will attend) will follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home with Elder Roy Whyte officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
Due to Elkhart County Ordinances, face masks are required upon entering the building and a maximum of 25 people will be allowed inside at one time. Thank you!
