Patricia "Patty" Ellen (Place) McKnight

Patricia E. McKnight, 64, of Goshen, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at her home.

Patty was born on June 21, 1957 in Norwich, NY to the late, Robert Edward Place and Katherine Elizabeth (Conpropst) Place.

Patty is survived by her significant other since 1994, Joe Blank; sons, Michael (Ashley) Demetz and his 6 children, Anthony (Crystal) Demetz and his 5 children and Freddie (Tianna) Demetz and his 5 children; brothers, Richard, Tredwell (Mary), Michael (Renee), Oliver and Edward Place; sisters, Roberta Ryan, Linda Place, Kathy Mullen, Connie Place, Karen (Terry) Norden and Jennifer (Tim) Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patty moved to Indiana in 1981. She worked hard to receive a welding degree and working in several machine shops operating punch press operators and welding. She worked at Walerko Tool for 28 years doing aircraft precision machining. She was a diligent worker who prided herself in showing up every day to work.

In her free time, Patty enjoyed baking cakes, crocheting and solving puzzles. She also liked to work on her lawn.   

Her greatest joy was her children and watching her grandchildren grow to become adults. Joe was a great father figure to her children and Patty wanted to make special mention to him.

A Celebration of Patty’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 5:00 pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating.

Visiting with family and friends will be 2 hours prior to the start of service from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

Per Patty’s request, her body was donated to science.
