ELKHART - Omar H. “Bud” Berry, 66, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home following an extended illness on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at 12:30 am.
He was born in South Bend on March 12, 1952 to the late Gene A. and Shirley M. (France) Ostrom, Sr. On May 19, 1979 he married Barbara A. “Barb” Vest in Elkhart, where she currently survives at home.
Also surviving are children Misty Cunningham, Rob (Amy) Cunningham, Buddy (Katrina Lundy) Berry and James (Jen) Berry; brother Gene A. (Debbie) Ostrom, Jr.; sisters Rose Ann (Delno) Johnson and Terri (Jimmy) Richardson; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his beloved faithful companion, Lexi the Shepherd.
Bud’s life will be celebrated with a gathering of family and friends from 3-5 pm on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Elkhart. Military honors featuring the US Army Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV Post #19 will be conducted at 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
Bud worked mostly as an electrician in the mobile home industry for nearly 40 years until his health required his early retirement in 2008. An avid outdoor sportsman, nothing made Bud happier than spending time hunting, fishing or camping, except maybe spending time with his children and grandchildren as well. He was also a die-hard Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and loved to follow NASCAR.
Memorial donations may be given in Bud’s memory to his spouse, Barb.
