Norann Winn Life Story

Ms. Norann Jeanette Winn, 66, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly within the comfort of her north-side home on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2:26 am due to some longtime health related issues. She was born on December 8,1954 in Sendai, Japan to the late Norman E. and Mildred J. (House) Winn. Norann’s father Norman was stationed in Japan as a Sergeant in the US Army at the time of her birth.

Surviving Norann is her daughter Sandra J. (Adam P.) Sullivan of Union, MI; grandchildren Robert V. Sullivan and Kaelyn J. Berg, both of Union; sisters Noreen J. Winn of Bandera, TX, Nora J. Kidd of Georgetown, IL, Norain J. Winn of Charleston, SC and Norvela J. Winn-Cormican of New Paris, IN, and a loving host of extended family and dear friends, including nieces and nephews Jennifer (Marc) Dunderman, Denise (Charlie) Lambert, Pam (Brad) Aaron, Brandy (Sam) Freeze, Dawn (Shane) Roark, Alan Brown, Roger and Tony Stanfill, Desiree Cormican, Tracy Gill-deRegt, Ernie Gill, Norman Winn, III, Miranda and Tommy Winn, Tonya Rose and David and Angel Ray. Along with her parents, Norann is preceded in death by brothers Norren E. and Norman E. Winn, II and sisters Norma J. and Noreia J. Winn precede Norann in death.

Pastor Patrick Neff and the congregation of the Porter Baptist Church (12032 Teasdale Lake Street, Constantine, MI 49042) are honored to host Norann’s memorial celebration of life service on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm, with visitation and fellowship taking place there one hour prior. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart are assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

Norann had a prolific work ethic and was never comfortable with anything less than giving 100 percent. She had literally just retired from Focus Cleaning Solutions, Inc. of Elkhart, where she has worked several years as an environmental interaction specialist. Prior to that, she was active in the retail business where she assisted in the construction and managing of the Constantine (MI) Dollar General Store. She was also an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army.

Norann’s happiest times were always when she was with her family. No matter what the occasion, she always jumped at the chance to celebrate good times with her daughter and sisters and love on her two grandkids like there was no tomorrow. Simple, peaceful, hard-working and easy going, Norann had a heart of gold and a love for others that transcended the usual definition of charity. She was a strong environmental advocate, and was a member of Greenpeace, a global network of campaigning entities which peacefully protest natural global problems caused by neglectful companies and entities. She had a profound love for whales and was a champion for their survival and well-being. Additionally, her strong Christian beliefs and upbringing assured that she would do almost anything for anyone who needed help and she always celebrated whenever she could help someone in some way, even if she had to go without.

Norann also loved warm, sunny days where she could sit out on the porch or perhaps at a beach and simply enjoy soaking up the sun. She was also a die-hard Chicago Bears and Fighting Irish fan, so if the game was on, you simply didn’t exist until the end of the fourth quarter.

She will be best remembered for her sage wisdom and her genuine care for others, reflected in her “trademark” farewell:  “Remember…”, she would say, “I love you and God loves you!!”.

May God bless you and keep you, Norann; thank you for you.
