Michael Girton Life Story

Mr. Michael Richard Baker Girton, 31, of Osceola, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Thursday, November 10, 2022 around 7:30 am, following a life-long history of heart conditions. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on March 1, 1991 to the late Lorrine Guhl and the late Al Reeb, who raised Mike like a father. He was currently engaged to his sweetheart Michelle A. Kelly, who survives him at home. Also, two of Mike’s children, Rachel and Raymond Hargrove, precede him in death.

Along with Michelle, Mike is also survived by his selfless and courageous eight year old son, Caiden Girton, who was the first to find his dad on that sad day and instinctively called 911 and began CPR with the help of the 911 operator. We salute young Caiden for displaying his love for his dad in such a touching and somber way.

Additionally, Mike is survived by his sister Kaylee (Daryl) Jariett of Mishawaka; his grandparents John and Ann Girton of Kalamazoo, and a whole flock of loving nieces and nephews, including Bryana, Natalie, Emma, Baylie, Jordin, Myia, Makayla and Maleyah; all whom made up Mike’s special fan club! His good friends and neighbors should also be mentioned, as Mike knew that they always had his back.

On Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 2-5 pm, the family is hosting a gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life and times of Michael Girton at the home of his beloved in-laws, Tom and Vanessa Miller, at 56328 Ash Road, Osceola. If you are able, the family would love for you to bring a dish, if possible, but it is certainly not necessary!

Because of his health situation, Mike was a stay-at-home dad who was able to get parenting and running a household down to a science. It was known that he enjoyed the little things in life…. like a tent and blazing campfire in the middle of nowhere, or the sizzle of steaks cooking out on the grill, or just being outside to feel the sun,  to hear the birds,  to smell the air and to have those he loved the very most around him. He was very much into Mother Nature and keeping his environment…well…green.

Mike had an infectious smile that seemed to be contagious, like a yawn, and you didn’t have to do a lot to impress him except be honest, be nice and keep your word. He seemed to brighten the hearts of everyone around him and he always tried to be the friend who would stand with you, if need be. Although he was known as “Big Daddy” to his beautiful Michelle, He was the quintessential “cat daddy” as well, not just because he liked his furry little household overlords, but because he loved his Michelle so much and he knew she simply couldn’t exist without her lovely little lap lions. It should also be mentioned that he was a big fan of the Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim”, a tv program that featured adult-themed cartoons like Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill and, his absolute favorite, Rick and Morty.

Friends and family wishing to make a donation in Mike’s memory may do so by donating to Caiden’s future through his Auntie Kaylee Jariett or to his natural mother, Teresa. Additionally, please be sure to thoroughly browse Mike’s obit page, as you are able to leave condolences and memories, post photographs on his memory wall, and order other funerary items in regard to the family.

Some will say the world has lost a wonderfully beautiful soul. We prefer to think that Heaven has gained one. Wubba Lubba Dub Dub, Mike……
