Melvin Flenoy Jr., 55, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his residence. He was born on March 21, 1967, in Chicago, IL to Melvin Flenoy Sr., who survives him, and the late Martha Jean (Walker) Floyd.
Melvin is survived by his son, Melvin Flenoy III; two grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Floyd, Gail Johnson, James Walker, Teresa Robinson, Diane “Sis” Robinson, and Aretha Robinson; nieces and nephews, James Floyd, Angela Floyd, Dwayne Walker, Brad Flenoy, Noah Johnson, and Latrece Johnson; special Auntie’s, Dorothy Robinson, Mary Jones, Almetta Malone, and Joyce Peirce; and special uncle, Willie Robinson; and a host of cousins. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Cheryl Flenoy; mother, Martha Jean Floyd; and uncle, Willie Lovelady.
In accordance with Melvin’s wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Elkhart Life Church, 1135 Middlebury St. in Elkhart.
Melvin was a fun loving, caring, and giving person who would put others needs before his own. He worked briefly as a production worker at LaSalle Bristol in Elkhart and was an active member at Elkhart Life Church. He married the love of his life, Cheryl, on February 13, 1996, at his church and treasured every moment with her prior to her passing. Family meant the world to Melvin as he could be seen spending time with them and riding bikes with his young nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
