Mary Ann (Fleming) McClurkin, 82, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on March 14, 1941, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late Charles “Chuck” and Ella (Dykhouse) Fleming.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Corina Ingole; loving granddaughter, Sierra Ingole; sisters, Janet Jarrett, Ethel Fleming, Charlene Aimsworth, Harriet Fleming, and Carol McQueen; brother, Chuck Fleming; special friends, Teresa and Jon Hoke; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and coworkers.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Services for Mary will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Billings Funeral Home with visitation from 1 to 3 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM. Jo B. Johnston of Billings Funeral Home will be officiating the service.
Mary worked for Miles-Bayer for over 43 years, dabbling in about every task she could. She was proud of her job and enjoyed working alongside her colleagues. She also was a member of Adamsville Road Church of God and was involved with their Bible study group.
Mary was an avid NASCAR fan and devoted many weekends to watching the races, always rooting for the “underdog” racers. When football season came around, Mary would watch Notre Dame play. If they won, her granddaughter would lovingly tease her, as she was not their biggest fan.
In her spare time, Mary could be found tending to her flower garden or canning fruits and vegetables, a tradition passed down to her daughter. She enjoyed taking trips, such as to Disney World, and going out shopping. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her granddaughter who brought her so much joy.
Mary will be remembered as a loving, kind, and caring soul who had a true zest for life. She loved being around people and was always happy with a smile on her face. Mary will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.
