Mr. Marvin I. Mock, 73, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 4:00 am following an extended illness. He was born November 17, 1946 in Oraldo, FL and later married Sandra Eastman, who precedes him in death as do his parents.
Surviving are step-sons Shawn (Jessica) Marzini of Ark City, KS and David Marzini of Elkhart, as well as 5 grandchildren.
Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family with arrangements. In accordance with his wishes, Marvin is to be cremated and services will be held at a later time.
Marvin will be best remembered for his staunch work ethic, being a strong advocate for education and for his deep appreciation for the sea and for the plethora of aquatic life that it provided for. After moving to Elkhart in 1970, he retired from Wells Cargo after nearly 40 years there and would never hesitate to remind his boys of the values of hard work and staying in school. He loved watching programs about the ocean and marine life on National Geographic and the History Channel, and sea creatures would often find their way into his paintings and artwork that he would create in his free time. He also enjoyed weightlifting.
Family and friends are encouraged to browse the funeral home’s website, where one can share the obituary, leave condolences for the family, order flowers, get directions and more.
