Marilyn L. Mortimer, 82, formerly of Cassopolis, MI went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at her home in Elkhart.
Marilyn was born on July 30, 1938 to the late, Donald T. and Inez L. (Spencer) Kirkpatrick in Cassopolis, MI. She was married to the late, Robert “Bob” Mortimer on Aug. 14, 1985 for 36 years.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Bob on June 30, 2019, parents, Don and Inez, stepdaughter, Denise Swaim and great granddaughter, Brooklynn Dunbar and daughter-in-law, Julia Sams.
She is survived by children, Robin Sams of Dowagiac, MI., Becki Dunbar and Ron Sams, both of Elkhart; brother, Twyman Donald Kirkpatrick of El Paso, TX; stepchildren, Stanley J. (Trish) Swaim of Wichita, KS, Kevin G. Swaim of Indianapolis, IN and Jo-Ann (David) Mortimer-Paulson of Elkhart and 50 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren whom she adored.
Marilyn was a housekeeper at Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac as well as within the Cassopolis public school system. She was a member of Coulter’s Chapel Church of God in Niles, MI. Marilyn was an avid reader especially Amish literature. She enjoyed going to garage sales and camping. Marilyn enjoyed word searches and puzzles. She was a church going lady whom loved the Lord. Most of all, Marilyn loved her family especially her grandchildren dearly.
A Memorial Service for Marilyn will be held 6:00 pm, July 14, 2021 at Coulter’s Chapel Church of God, 3176 E. Detroit Rd.’ Niles, MI 49120.with Rev. David Frazier officiating. Marilyn’s visitation will be 1 hour prior from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the church.
