Marilyn Beatrice Jones

Marilyn Beatrice Jones, 61, of Elkhart, passed away after an extended illness on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Marilyn was born in Covington, TN on October 19, 1961, to Lorenzo Jones and Susie B. Taylor.  She was raised by her mother, Susie and stepfather, David Adams, who both survive.  

She is preceded in death by her brother, Brian, and her father, Lorenzo.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Natasha (Jon) Whetstone of Mishawaka and Shannon Jones of Elkhart; brother, David Taylor; sisters, Angela Jones, Gwendolyn (Gary) Rucker and Alicia Taylor; granddaughters, Makayla Bartlett, Kennedy Stewart, Destiny Stewart and Adriana Whetstone; cousin, Belinda (Steve) Gates, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are left to cherish her memory.

Marilyn was a 1980 graduate of Elkhart Central High School. She honorably served her country in the U.S. Army as a computer machine operator. Marilyn was a member of St. James A.M.E. of Elkhart. She worked in the accounts receivable department with several local businesses.

Marilyn enjoyed gardening and she was an avid reader. She was a strong woman and was willing to help those in need.

Her family was her world and she especially adored her granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00pm noon, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. James AME, . 122 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46516.

Per the family’s request, Marilyn will be cremated.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
