Margie L. Patterson

Margie L. Patterson, 76, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at Elkhart General Hospital on April 13, 2024 at 5:29 pm while convalescing from an extended illness. She was born in Wilson, Arkansas on May 11, 1947 and was raised by her mother, Ophelia (Hays) Jackson and her stepfather George Jackson. Besides her parents, Margie is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Bryant.

Margie is survived by a host of loving family, extended family and friends that include a daughter, Ashalina L. Gary, and sons James and Curtis Bryant. All are from Elkhart.

In accordance with the wishes of the family, cremation has taken place and burial will be held at the family plot at Prairie Street Cemetery with a graveside service to be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Pastor Danny Brown of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church will officiate and Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart are assisting the family with arrangements.

Margie spent many years as a welder at the Gunnite Corporation of Elkhart and attended Elkhart’s Community Missionary Baptist Church. Of course, she loved all of her family dearly, but the special enchantment brought about by visits from her dear grandchildren simply made her day and they all would come to cherish each other’s company.
