Linda Jean Thompson, 74, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully Friday morning, November 25, 2022, surrounded by love and her family at the Center for Hospice Care, Raclin House in Mishawaka.
Linda was born on July 20, 1948 in Elkhart to the late Homer Gene and Louise (Gerhart) Fisher.
She married her best friend and true love Ronald R. Thompson on December 4, 1971 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Ron, two sons, Matthew (Andrea) Thompson and Tyson (Milaina) Thompson, and her sister Janice (Bob) Zeek. She will be missed and was adored by her four grandchildren, Jade Thompson, Stone Thompson, Makenna Thompson, and Ariana Thompson. In addition to her parents, a sister Sharon Foreman preceded her in death.
Linda was a 1966 graduate of White Pigeon (MI) High School. She worked for over seventeen years at Forest River in the accounts payable department, where she was known as “The Candy Lady” for bringing in treats for everyone. Linda was a woman of great faith and was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, previously attending St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church until they moved to Middlebury. She was well known for her wonderful restaurant Da-Ssingers Yogurt and Sandwich Shop located on Bristol St. She left her mark upon the dozens of high school kids she employed while serving great food and talking with all her customers. She also loved fishing with Ron, cleaning her house and going on boat rides on Long Lake. Most of all, her family and especially her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Services celebrating the life of Linda Jean Thompson, will start with a parish rosary at 10:00 am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Noon, (12 o’clock) with visitation beginning at 10:30 am. at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church 411 West Vistula St. Bristol, IN 46507. Rev. Bob Van Kempen will officiate. In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place with private burial at a later date in St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart. Arrangements for Linda are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, where condolences may be left for her family at www.billingsfuneralhgome.com
