Leslie Johnson Sr.

Leslie Johnson Sr., 64, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his home, with his loving family by his side. Leslie was born October 29, 1958, in Leslie County, KY to the late Pearl and Tylie J. (McCallister) Johnson.

He is survived by his daughters, Angela Johnson, her life partner Brandon Tolliver, and Kristina (Jason) Snook; son, Adrian Couch; 14 loving grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Naiden) Johnson and Kelly (Wanda) Johnson; sister, Freda (Jim) Kletsh; and a host of many nieces and nephews. Leslie is also survived by his brothers in friendship, Danny Ray Davis (aka Calf) and Rex Sutterby.  

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kimberly A. (Rhodes) Johnson; sons, Leslie Johnson Jr, Billy Joe Johnson, and Robert Johnson; and sisters, Shirley Johnson and Lila Johnson.

Leslie as a caring father, husband, and grandfather. He was a family man, and his children and grandchildren were his whole world. He loved and treated all of his nephews and nieces as if they were his own children.  Leslie had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He couldn’t see anyone go without and would open his home to people he didn’t know so they had a place to stay, making sure they had a hot meal to eat. Leslie was a hard worker who worked as a Mechanic for many years and enjoyed working on cars.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 with a visitation from noon to 2 p.m. until service time at Barbourville Funeral Home, 1196 US-25 E., Barbourville, KY 40906. Burial will follow in Callebs Creek Cemetery, Barbourville, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Local arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
