Ms. Kelly A. McCraner, 54, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 5:48 am, with her loving sweetheart Kirk at her side. She had been ill for some time. Kelly was born in Niles, Michigan on December 7, 1968, to the late James M. and Norma M. (Tabbert) McCraner. At the time of her passing, she was residing with her significant other, Kirk E. Johnson.
Also surviving Kelly are her sons, Bryan M. (Sydni) Horvath of Ft. Wayne and Brandon J. (Alyice) Horvath of Mishawaka; daughter, Kayleigh M. McCraner of Battle Creek, Michigan; sister, Michelle A. (Michael) Cloud of Dowagiac, Michigan; brother, James N. (Larissa) McCraner of Cassopolis, Michigan; grandchildren, Emma, Colton, Riley and Declan Horvath, Dominick McCraner and Eva Hoke; grandmother, Nancy Tabbert of Dowagiac; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
Kelly’s family and friends may gather for memories, fellowship and to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Southside Baptist Church, 29064 CR 16 (@ CR 3), Elkhart. In accordance with Kelly’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation with the assistance of Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart.
Kelly worked many years in the RV industry, and was a classic car and motorcycle enthusiast who’d never turn down a ride. She absolutely loved to be outdoors, and her favorite spot was on the back porch where she could see everything that was going on, enjoy the sunshine with her Siberian Husky, Bella, and supervise Kirk on the doneness of her steak while he manned the grill. Her boys would chime in to say that Kelly was also a wonderful and loving mom who doted over her grandchildren. Although Kelly was mostly no-nonsense and always said what she meant, she had a special, re-assuring chuckle that would signal that everything would be okay. She enjoyed riding along with Kirk on his Harley Davidson, listening to Def Leppard and Garth Brooks, and keeping in touch with her spirituality and inner self. Despite her health issues, Kelly lived life to its fullest and often encouraged others to always enjoy what they have.
