John B. Lisi, 89, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully Monday morning, February 15, 2021 at his home, surrounded by love and family.
John was born on Christmas Eve, 1931, in Elkhart, the son of Joseph and Concetta (Ianigro) Lisi. After graduating from Elkhart High School in 1951, he heard the call of duty and proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 8 years, during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1959.
John worked in Sales at Bock Industries and retired from Weber Manufacturing. He was a lifelong resident of Elkhart and has been a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church since his birth. John was also a member of the I.A.R.A and Elkhart Moose Lodge #599. He enjoyed golfing, making wine, dancing and Notre Dame Football. But most important to him was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children; Steven (Cathie Struble) Lisi, Vincent (Toni) Lisi, Pamela (Jay) Michael, Jeri (Mike) Bailey, Crystal (Jim) Rinehart and Beth (Scott) Bailey. He also is survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, with another on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy (Bock) Lisi in 2016, as well as 2 brothers Ted Lese, Tony Lisi and his sister Anne M. Richardson.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb 19, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the mass at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St. Rev. Daniel Niezer will officiate. Burial with military honors by the U.S Navy Funeral Honor guard will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Center for Hospice Care or St. Vincent dePaul CC.
