Jerry Ray Workman, 76, of Goshen, passed away after a sudden illness on Tuesday, June 7,2022 at I.U. Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on April 13, 1946, in Elkhart to the late Ray and Helen (Coppler) Workman.
He married his true love and best friend Jana L. Harmon on June 30, 1968, at Grace Lutheran Church Elkhart. Surviving is his wife of 53 years Jana, a son, Jason (Diane) Workman; daughter Jennifer Hannah and fiancé Rod Evans; six loving grandchildren; Breana Hannah, Morgan Workman, Kayla Hannah, Mackenzie Workman, Carson Workman, and Xavier Evans. In addition to his parents, a sister Barbara Beckwith preceded him in death.
Jerry retired from Miles Laboratories in 2007, after 42 years of service. He was a 1964 graduate of Concord High School, shortly after graduating, he heard the call of duty and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting fishing lures. He was an avid animal lover, and his most precious times were enjoying his family and cheering on his children and grandchildren’s activities. Jerry and Jana enjoyed traveling and spent many winters enjoying the weather in Apache Junction, AZ.
Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Jerry’s life with visitation from 2-4 pm Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Dunlap United Methodist Church, 23674 US 33, Elkhart, followed by a Memorial service and military honors by DAV Chapter 19, and the US Army funeral honor guard at 4:00 pm. The Rev. Melissa Englehart will officiate. Per his wishes, cremation was chosen, under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
