Mrs. Janet Ann White, 79, of Edwardsburg, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 6:24 am at the home of her faithful Elkhart caregiver, Anita Frankenberger, following an extended illness. She was born in Adamsville, MI on Nov. 25, 1940 and was the daughter of George E. and Ruth L. (Reed) Harris. She later married Pastor Wellington B. “Bruce” White who just passed away May 15 of this year after 62 wonderful years together
Also surviving are sons Bruce R. “Bob” (Linda) White, Michael E. “Mike” White and Wellington P. “Phil” White; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and good friends survive as well.
Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart will be hosting Janet’s homegoing service on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior and burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg. Janet’s son, Bob, will officiate the services.
Quiet, reserved and unsung, Janet’s unseen heroism never faltered over the years she remained her husband’s steadfast companion and her sons’ loving mother. She was the core of everything that went on in the White household and was the one dynamic in the family that assured that everything came together accordingly. She was the faithful wife of a pastor and missionary minister and attended to all of the silent details necessary to run a ministry. She particularly enjoyed accompanying her husband everywhere, and assisted him in spreading the gospel in places such as Africa and Haiti, where they enjoyed ministering to, befriending and helping the local people.
But when she and Bruce weren’t traveling or engaged in their Christian Ministries, Janet was a loving mother to her sons. It was said that one of her greatest accomplishments was to raise them in a healthy, wholesome Christian atmosphere, which she did, and then to see them carry on her traditions of faith, love and value within their own families. Retrospectively, life circumstance caused Janet to leave high school early on in her youth, but she later returned to the classroom in her adult life and went on to graduate, an accomplishment that she was also very proud of.
Family and friends are encouraged to browse the funeral home’s website, where one can share the obituary, leave condolences for the family, order flowers, get directions and more. Memorial donations in Janet’s memory may be given to Gideons’ International.
