Jack D. Barrett, 68, of Elkhart, died Sunday March 28, 2021. He was born in Elkhart on April 30, 1952. Jack graduated from Jimtown High School with the Class of ’70 and on October 21, 1972, he married Patricia (Watterson) Barrett. Jack served with the National Guard for several years and had retired from his work in construction. He enjoyed retirement and spending time with family & friends. Outgoing, friendly and always willing to assist others, Jack was an avid fan of University of Tennessee Vols football. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard or around the house and on the vehicles, his regular poker games and caring for his longtime companion, his Beagle “Flash”. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Selmer Barrett; mother & step-father, Pearl & Don Wood; a grandson, Randy Smith, Jr.; sisters, Edie Hibshman & Faye Barrett and brothers, Don & Ken Barrett. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patty Barrett and their children, Jamie Nakis of Richmond IN, Amy (Mike) Kline of Three Rivers MI, Angie Barrett of Elkhart and Jason (Diana) Barrett of Carmel; grandchildren, Maria (Nic) Alcorn of San Diego CA, Litsa (Wesley) Smith & Hailie Nakis both of Richmond, Niko Nakis of St. Petersburg FL, Ashley Smith & Zoe Belle Kline both of Three Rivers MI, Brenden Graber & Kamryn Norton, both of Elkhart and Brooklyn Barrett of Carmel; great-grandson, Easton Graber and his sister, June (Paul) Bolinger of Denton TX. Funeral Services 2:00 Wednesday March 31, 2021 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Visitation is Wednesday from 1-2pm in the funeral home. Burial in Olive Cemetery West.
