Ida M. Larkin

ELKHART —  Ms. Ida Mae Larkin, 64, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully following an extended illness on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 at 6:51 pm at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 22, 1953 in Sikeston, MO to the late Guy and Alberta (Martin) Larkin, Sr.

Surviving are her children Tressa, Rita, Melody and Lamont (Jamie) Larkin, all of Elkhart; grandchildren Malique Boothe, Mashaila Larkin-Boothe and Terez, Meleahya and Kaylena Larkin; sisters Sally (Elbert) House and Emma Larkin of Elkhart and Betty Larkin-Cannon of Denver, CO; brothers Guy (Hattie) Larkin, Jr. of Memphis, TN and John Larkin of Elkhart; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt left to cherish her memory. Preceding Ida in death are siblings Bobby and Charlotte Larkin.

Ida’s Celebration of Life Service will be hosted by Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 at 12:00 noon, with visitation beginning one hour prior at 11 am. The Reverend Marvin T. Pace of the New Vision of Life Church will officiate and cremation will follow services with a burial at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart on Monday, Oct. 23 at 10:00 am.

Ida was a homemaker whose keen sense of humor and beautiful smile would always light up a room. Loving and endearing, she prided herself on being accepting and helpful to everyone she came to know, especially within her own family. She also liked to shop, play bingo and watch “The Price Is Right”. She was the rock upon which her family stood, and her mentoring and loving presence will be greatly missed.
