Helen Louise (Anderson) Hudson

Helen Louise Hudson, 95, of Elkhart, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.  

Helen was born on March 22, 1927 in Benton, MO to the late, Esaw and Hattie Anderson. She was married to the late, Calvin Hudson whom passed away in 1987.

Helen is survived by her sons, Johnny Hudson (Angela Curry) of Elkhart, James “Zack” Hudson of Jersey City, NJ and Willie Gunn of Muskegon, MI and 4 grandchildren, Kayla, McKenna, Janice and Johnny.

Helen was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church for 60 years as well as a stewardess at the church. She worked as a seamstress at the old Hotel Elkhart and was a press operator for Taylor Products in Elkhart. Helen was an avid Bingo player. She enjoyed attending horse races. She was a golfer in her early years. Whenever she had a chance to travel, she would take advantage of the opportunity. Her favorite place was going to Las Vegas.

Helen was strong willed and loved her family fiercely.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, August 26, 2022 at St. James AME Church, 122 Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., Elkhart, IN 46516 with Rev. Dr. Charlie B. Cross, Jr. with visitation for 1 hour from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
