Helen Fillio Life Story

Mrs. Helen I. Fillio, 88, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully into eternity at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart on Tuesday, January 12, 2020 at 8:20 pm following an extended illness. She was born in Elkhart on January 25, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Jean and Bessie (Fetters) Sutterby. She married Lloyd J. Fillio on January 28, 1950. He precedes her in death after 65 wonderful years together.

Also surviving are her children Jackie (Howard) Elliott of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; sons Michael (Lois) Fillio of Elkhart, John (Jamie) Fillio of Indianapolis and Tom Fillio of South Bend; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of extended friends and family.

The Hillcrest United Methodist Church of Elkhart will host Helen’s homegoing in a private service of celebration there on Friday, January 22, 2021. Pastor Kerry Clear will officiate and burial will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart are assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen was a lifelong resident of Elkhart and was an EHS graduate. She was employed at CTS for 25 years before her retirement. She loved to travel, listen to music, dine out and spend time with her family. She was also a member of Hillcrest and was an avid Notre Dame fan.
