Harold “Dick” Comeau, 62, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 in Mishawaka.
Harold was born on June 20, 1958 to the late John and Alice (Stockwell) Comeau in Plattsburgh, NY. He married Christine (Lampert) Comeau on May 23, 1997 in Mishawaka. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Josiah in 2011.
Dick is survived by his wife of 24 years, Christine; his son Joseph Comeau of Elkhart; granddaughter, Sophia Rose; 2 brothers, John (Nora) Comeau of South Bend and Bob (Clarice) Comeau of Mishawaka; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dick served his country in the US Navy. He was a proud member of the Iowa Beard Gang. Dick found great joy in helping the disabled youth while at the South Bend School Corporation. He could be found volunteering at All 4 Animals Rescue in Mishawaka and Faith Mission. Charity was Dick’s life and he always advocated for those in need.
Dick loved all animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed playing games which allowed him to cultivate friends from all over the world. Dick had a sophisticated sense of humor as well as a relatable demeanor. He was a talented musician and singer in his early years. Dick would tell jokes and had a quick wit. He was a family man, a loving grandfather and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating. A Gathering of friends and family will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm before the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Everyone is welcome to bring a rose to place in the casket.
