Gerald “Bud” W. Warner, 94, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Greenleaf Health Campus.
Gerald was born in Elkhart, IN on June 10, 1928, to the late Fred Eugene Warner and Viola J. Denuyll. Gerald was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Faye (Ginther) Warner on March 10, 1979 in Mishawaka, IN.
He is preceded in death by wife, Dorothy on July 10, 2010; infant son, David Paul Warner on August 14, 1959; daughter, Peggy Helen Warner on May 27, 1955; brother and sisters, Charles W. Warner, Geraldine M. Taylor and Viola G. (Temple) Warner and sister-in-law, Pat Warner.
Bud is survived by his sons, Charles “Chuck” (Linda) Warner of Elkhart and Gerald “Buddy” (Phyllis) Underwood of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Nathan J. (Jessica) Warner of Forman, ND, Amanda K. (Philip) Warner of McKinney, TX, Andrew Underwood of Claremore, OK, Ryan Underwood of Tulsa, OK and Mark Underwood of Alexandria, VA; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Bud honorably served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was very patriotic and extremely proud of his service. Bud was a Supervisor at Taylor Products and at Journey Motor Homes in Elkhart. He was also a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and The Council on Aging.
In his earlier years, Bud enjoyed fishing. He also went to the casino. Bud frequently hung out with his Bingo friends at Arby’s.
Bud was a big Notre Dame Football fan. He listened to old country western music and could be found secretly strumming his guitar.
Bud could be found entertaining the ladies with his big sense of humor.
A Funeral Service for Bud with military honors will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Rev. Sarah Miller of New Hope United Methodist Church officiating.
Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the start of service from 10:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
