Gerald Lee Nord, 62, residing in Elkhart, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family, on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital. Gerald was born on June 26, 1957 in Elkhart to the late Raymond Victor and Doris Mae (Cook) Nord. In addition to his parents a brother Richard Troyer, preceded him in death.
On September 11, 1982, he married his true love Mary L. Herman at Life Tabernacle Church. Surviving is his wife of 37 years Mary L. Nord; three loving sons, Eric Nord, Joshua (Amanda) Nord and Christopher (Mandy) Nord; loving him still are three grandchildren, Elijah and Alix Nord and Bailey Coffey; as well as 2 brothers, James Nord, Mark Hammon and his sister Coni Gunder.
Gerald worked for over 16 years in shipping and receiving at Omega National Products in Elkhart. Prior to that, he drove truck and worked as a dispatcher for many years. He was a longtime member of Life Tabernacle Church. He was very patriotic and enjoyed collecting eagles. An avid animal lover, he had many furry friends over the years, but will be missed by his current dog “Pudge.” Gerald was very handy and could fix just about anything he put his mind to. He loved his Lord, his wife and his family.
Services celebrating the life of Gerald L. Nord will be hosted at Life Tabernacle Church, 1135 Middlebury St. beginning at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Visitation will start from 4:00 pm until service time at the church. In honoring his wishes, cremation was chosen after the celebration, with burial at a later date in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request memorial contributions to Tupelo Children’s Mansion, 1801 E. Main St., Tupelo, MS, 38804 or to Life Tabernacle Church.
