DOWAGIAC, Mich. — Gail Mae Ross, 59, of Dowagiac, MI and formerly of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, March 21, at the Kairos Dwelling Hospice, in Kalamazoo, after a courageous battle with COPD and emphysema. Gail was born on January 26, 1959 in Dowagiac to the late Jonathon and Ellen (Henigsmith) Personette. Surviving are her children, Jesse (Kierilee) James, Tonya (Tony) Green and Veronica (William) Merwin; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, with another expected soon; 4 sisters, Donetta Barnes, Eva (Lester) Ross, Pati (David) Foley, Merri (Brad) Manley and brother Terry (Toby) Personette. In addition to her parents, many brother and sisters and a great grandchild Kierra Mae Vales, preceded her in death. Gail was a loving mom and grandma, her hobbies were her grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking, was a huge Green Bay packer and Michigan football fan, and liked NASCAR, with Tony Stewart her favorite driver. Services celebrating Gail’s life will begin at 1:00 pm, with visitation with her family starting at Noon on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Pastor Jeff Schmidt will officiate. Per her wishes, cremation was chosen. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association. Condolences may be sent to her family at our website.
