Fred C. Gardner

Frederick “Fred” C. Gardner, 91, of Cassopolis, MI, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Fred was born on November 14, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Edward H. Gardner and Dorothy (Thomas) Gardner. Fred married the love of your life, Priscilla “Irene” Gardner on September 26, 1950 in Goshen.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Joseph E. Gardner,  brothers, Edward and James Gardner and sister, Mary Jane Gardner

Fred is survived by his son, Michael C. (Cheryl) Gardner of Cassopolis, MI; daughter-in-law, Ruth (Steve) Nauman of Goshen; 5 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Fred graduated from Edwardsburg High School. He was also a Cass County Sheriff Deputy. Fred was employed as a sheet metal worker for many years, retiring from Shriner & Sons. Fred was an airplane pilot whom loved to take to the skies whenever he could.

Fred was an avid camper and loved going to Camelot Campgrounds in Jones, Michigan. He enjoyed playing a round of golf at the local courses. Fred could also be found watching football. 

A Private Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at “The Farm” on Saturday, October, 10, 2020 at 3:00 pm. Per the family’s wishes, cremation was chosen. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
