Eleanor Jean (Craig) "Peg" Kiefer

Eleanor Jean “Peg” Kiefer, 101, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Greenleaf Health Campus. She was born in Warsaw, IN on May 15, 1922, to the late Fred and Lois C. Craig.

Peg is also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Kiefer and her siblings, James Craig and Donna Mauk. She is survived by her children James (Mary Jo) Kiefer and Cindy (Bill) Hackman; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.  

A private graveside service will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, IN 46561. Memorial Donations may be given to Grace Bible Church, 1700 Edwardsburg Ave, Elkhart, IN 46514. Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart is assisting the family with services. 

Peg was a homemaker for most of her life. She prided herself in keeping a well-kept home and loved to cook meals for her family. She married Raymond Keifer on August 14, 1937, in which they shared 75 years of marriage until he passed away in 2013. Peg was an active member of Grace Bible Church in Elkhart for many years where she prepared meals for special events at the church. She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading biographies of famous people and other works of nonfiction. Peg loved her family immensely and she loved babysitting her grandchildren when she had the chance. In her spare time, she played cards and shared a cup of tea with friends alongside Simonton Lake.
