Edward Daniel Royer, 88, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, July 10, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.
Ed was born on May 30, 1933 to Albert and Phoebe (Marconett) Royer in Waterford, California. He married Norma (DelRegno) Royer on November 4, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Richard and granddaughter, Megan.
Ed is survived by his wife of 22 years, Norma; children, Beverly (Michael) Meyer of Elkmound, WI, Gary (Dori) Royer Sr. of Elkhart, Michael Royer of Elkhart, Debra (Robert) Miller of Brookston, IN, Teresa Polston (Ed DeLaurelle) of Osceola, and Gina Birr (Austin Fergison) of Elkhart; sister, Wanita Graybill of Goshen; 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Ed was a purchasing agent for Lasalle Deitch from 1961-1999, when he retired. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #599 and was acting governor from 1976 to 1977. Ed and his wife were members of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
Ed was a skilled handyman. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed sharing his gift with everyone. In his younger years, Ed enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and always had a joke to tell.
In his final months, Ed was cared for by his beloved wife, daughter Gina, grandchildren Giana and Joel Anglemyer and Austin Fergison, whom the family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for his care towards Ed during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Family and friends are welcome to gather 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
