Lalo graduated as part of the last graduating class from Elkhart Central High School and had been working as a forklift operator at Maverick Packaging in Elkhart at the time of his passing. He had been involved in the Boys and Girls Clubs in the past and continued to enjoy playing soccer and basketball.

He will be best remembered for his devotion to the gym and to physical fitness as well as his constant desire to help others before himself. He never liked seeing anyone sad or upset, so he was nice to everyone he met, especially those who appeared to be less fortunate, and was very much his own person who enjoyed doing things his own way. He was an avid electronic gamer, loved tattooing and fast cars.
