Donald “Butch” F. Coddington, 77, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Butch was born in Lafayette, IN to the late, Olin and Ruth (Hicks) Coddington. He married the love of his life, Judy (LaDow) Coddington on October 13, 1967 in Elkhart.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Johnny, Debbie, Edward, Beverly and Dora.
Butch is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy; daughters, Kim (Ken) Dietrich of Osceola and Candie (Danny) Books of Elkhart; grandchildren, David Vollmer (Jade), Christian Vollmer, Michael (Shasta) Dietrich and Ashley Dietrich; brothers and sisters, Bob Coddington, Shirley Green, Wayne Coddington, Ronnie Coddington and Carolyn Minkle.
Butch honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was 1 of 11 siblings and was frequently called upon to support his family at an early age. Butch was employed as a foreman at Elkhart Products for 25 years. He enjoyed working on old cars and restoring them into their former glory (sometimes at the behest of his wife).
Butch was an avid karaoke singer whom could be found online at “Sing Snap” under Wrangler. He loved singing and listening to old school country music. In his younger days, Butch and his wife, Judy enjoyed bowling together.
Butch was a laid back yet strong-willed guy, but a family man who you could always count on.
According to his wishes, there will be a family get together at a later date and Butch will be cremated.
